Sunday and Kincaid Pictures

We arrived in Alaska last night. It feels wonderful to be here. The sun is shining everything is so green and beautiful. It has been 6 years since I have been here with my children - back then I was pregnant with Blake. Clark is the only child that even remembers Alaska at all.

After church today we had vanilla ice cream with raspberries from last years harvest. My father has a massive area with raspberry plants that produce prolifically each fall. Last year they had so many that they were dreaming up ways to use them: raspberry leather, raspberry juice, raspberry jam, frozen raspberries, etc. That is my younger brother Mark in the photo below.

My parents brought this contraption back from Indonesia that electrocutes little bugs when it hits them and it looks like a tennis racket. The kids LOVE playing with it and hearing the satisfying sound of mosquitoes frying.

After ice cream we headed out to Kincaid Park to take some family pictures. Last year the rest of my siblings had come up to Alaska and had taken photos in coordinated polo shirts so this was our year.

Taking family pictures is a herculean effort by the way. Here are a few of the better shots:

After that fun time we headed on a short hike to where my younger brother Mark proposed to his wife Lauren (pictured below in the green tank). It was here on this bench overlooking the Turnagain Arm and Cook Inlet:

It is great to be here and we are looking forward to leaving for Seldovia tomorrow.
