FIVE!!

Blake is five!

We had a little army party for him with three friends.  Here is Emily breaking the pinata in our basement:

Another favorite gift was his robe.  He told Grandma on the phone, "I've been dying for months for a robe!"  He wore it the rest of the day.

Cousin Joshua gave him real walkie-talkies which he has been using around the house and neighborhood.  Blake loves Joshua.  When we first moved here, he informed me that he didn't need any friends because he had a cousin.  When Joshua comes over to play, he and Blake will disappear down in the basement for an hour at a time and I won't here a disagreement from them.  What a gift it is for them to have each other.  

So Blake, on your birthday - here are five things I love about you:

1. Blake is determined.  Don't even try to divert his attention once he sets his mind to something.

2. Blake is smart.  The other day, all by himself, he rigged up a scale by balancing a board on a pivot and used it to judge what was heavier and what was lighter.  By the way, a Hot Wheels race car is heavier then a sippy cup.

3.  Blake is a cuddler.  He still loves to snuggle in my lap with his blanket and be rocked.  

4. Blake is a good big brother.  Katie is finally getting old enough for Blake to really play with.  Katie and Blake share the most precious, genuine hugs.  I am so glad that Blake is home to play with Katie.  She is going to really miss him when he goes to school.

5.  Blake is a cook.  He can crack an egg all by himself and he can even stand up to the stove and carefully stir pots.
